Soto Ajam: a family tradition in the VanTwuyver family

This blog is in English, because it’s dedicated to our lovely American family, who have showed us so much generosity & hospitality, while we were visiting them. They welcomed us in their homes, some of them have more wooden shoes than people in Holland! We took a small peak in everybody’s life an discoverded their Dutch roots… For instance they all liked Drop (Dutch liquorish), Heineken and stroopwafels (Dutch cookie). They drove us all over the country just to show us the real American Experience. And we learned to eat Pho, Cheesesteaks, Hoagies, white pizza (!!!) AND the famous Soto Ajam. At the end we gained 20 pounds!!

Soto ajam family tradition

One big happy family enjoying Soto Ajam

Alas, all good things come to an end. It’s the curse of traveling. We always have to go further and say goodbye. No mercy. It’s hard to leave our family with their big hearts and comfortable beds with at least twenty pillows and our own bathroom. So cruel! But not before we have one last night together and eat Soto Ajam. A family tradition, just one more thing they liked to share with us!

How to make your own Soto Ajam, recipe:

  • A huge chicken, broth
  • Lemon, patato, fried onion, hard boiled egg, leeks, ginger, garlic, cilantro, bean sprouts, carrots, celery, parsley, rice, sweet soy an sambal
  • Just help yourself and mix whatever you like with the broth, chicken and veggies.
  • Yummie!!!

A BIG Fat thanks for the American memories, guys. We had a blast time! It was the Best Ever!
